Being Thankful

This is my 34th holiday season as a caterer and owner of my own firm.  I still remember my first holiday season as a caterer: the year was 1980.  The food, the décor and the service were excellent, even back then, but we’ve matured over the years to new levels in food, service and décor.

Much has changed in Miami since the early 1980’s… and for the better!!! During that first holiday season in 1980, I recall parking my car every day in a dirt lot on Biscayne Boulevard.  From there, I walked about a quarter of a mile to my catering business located on the 18th floor of what is now known as the Sun Trust Building  (Amerifirst Federal back then) at 1 SE 3rd Ave.  The dirt lot is gone, and in place of it stands the Intercontinental Hotel complex.  Ocean Drive in the 80’s was mainly run-down hotels with front-porch-filled rocking chairs moving slowly with senior citizens napping the afternoon away. There’s no way anyone can nap there now–just check out Mangos any time, day or night.  Just down the street where Smith and Wollensky is now located was the Miami Beach Dog Track.

You can see that much has changed in the past three+ decades.  I’m proud to have been working with such a great team over the years and look forward to many more.  Bill Hansen Catering, like Miami, has also been growing. We are proud to be the number one catering firm in Miami, and I am thankful for all the great clients I’ve served.

I wish each of you a very blessed Thanksgiving.

Congratulations Shaneil
