Pink Petals Ball

December 1, 2011 6-9 PM at The Kovens Conference Center at FIU ~ North Miami Campus

Since 1990 I’ve taught a class in catering management at Florida International University.  It’s a great way for me to stay and think young, share my knowledge with future hospitality industry leaders and also recruit many of our staffers who are either current students or FIU Hospitality School alumni.

I believe in hands-on experience for my students.  So this year we are producing a spectacular fund raiser and I am asking for you support.  This year’s class…which is 95%+ female, decided on a fundraiser for breast cancer victims who cannot afford breast reconstructive surgery.

Because one in eight woman having breast cancer,  my predominately female class (one student is a fifteen year survivor) and I invite you to enjoy our event, and if you cannot attend, please support it.

For $20 per person or $200 for a table you will not only support a worthy cause and you will:

Enjoy homemade beer and soft drinks made by one of my students.

Sample foods from fifteen different food stations

Drink from a three hour open bar featuring Johnny Walker Double Black

Listen to music by a local jazz band and later on dance to the beat of our own deejay.

And if this is not enough you will be entertained by a dance team composed of some of my students.

For more information, e-mail me at or call me on my cell phone at 305-338-1897.  We still have tickets and tables left and don’t forget about the silent auction!!!

Bill Hansen Helps Launch A New Web Site to Help Those Searching for Venues for Weddings, Corporate Events, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, Banquets, Parties, Fund Raisers and Special Events

A catering colleague from Philadelphia, James Miller started a web site to help those searching for venues in the Philadelphia area.  It is so successful there that he’s expanding to other cities.  I was selected to implement the program in South Florida as one of two caterers nationwide.  The other caterers is my friend Jerry Edwards of Chef’s Expressions in Baltimore.

The site will ultimately list at least five hundred South Florida venues from North Palm Beach County to Key West.  The good news is that the listing is free for the venues.  All venues who can host parties, weddings and special events may have a free listing, with one caveat, they need to keep their calendars updated so that people searching for venues will know if there is space or not.  There is no charge unless they wish to upgrade their listing!!!

Please check out the Philadelphia version of the site ~  Our South Florida version will launch very soon so don’t be late!

If you are a venue and you are reading this, e-mail me at and I will have a staffer contact you for your free listing in the South Florida edition of PartySpace.

If you are caterer, deejay, floral designer, photographer, etc. and you are reading this, e-mail me too for more details on how you can be listed at a very low introductory price.

Lastly, if you think of a venue that should be on the site…contact me.  Thanks!

A Great Recipe for Holiday Entertaining

Bill Hansen’s very own Executive Consulting Chef Tim Andriola shares his recipe for Shrimp and Baby Artichoke Casserole with Creamy Garlic and Herb Breadcrumbs in the November/December issue of South Florida Luxury Guide. Please see it online at South Florida Luxury Guide

The Moore Building

Just recently we were given the honor of serving 400 guests  a delicious three course meal at the historical Moore Building located in the Design District of Downtown Miami.  Used in the past as a storage warehouse by the Moore Furniture Company, the Moore Building offers 4 floors of entertainment space.  Although a challenging feat to deliver 400 hot plated meals, at the same time, I’m proud of my team for getting the job in true professional form.  We’ve helped orchestrate everything from weddings to special corporate events.  What can we do for you?
